11 Day round trip in detail:

Day 1: Copenhagen – Cairo

Exit to Egypt by air-Salah El Din Citadel-The Coptic Cairo

After arriving at Cairo Airport, you will be greeted by our agent, who will help you through the necessary procedure. Then we start our tour. We visit first the Salah El Din Citadel, where we will also see the Alabaster mosque. After lunch in a fine restaurant in the city we drive to the Coptic Cairo. After this introduction to Egypt, we drive to the hotel where you will be accommodated.

Day 2: Cairo

Giza Pyramids-The Egyptian Museum-Khan El Khalili Bazaar

After breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up and drive to the Giza plateau, where one of the Seven Wonders of the World (Kheops Pyramid) stands, and we will also greet Sphinx. After the pyramids we eat lunch (egyptian food), in a very fine restaurant on the nile, before going to the Egyptian Museum. The museum has the oldest heirlooms in the world, 122,000 treasures. Tutankhamon grave equipment as well as his gold Mask.

After the museum we run through the centre and look at the modern Cairo while we drive to the old part where 1001 night’s Adventures come from, and we will sense the atmosphere when we go for a walk through the Khan El Khalili bazaar. We end our wonderful day with a delicious dinner in the centre, at the Felfela restaurant, where we taste different Egyptian cuisine.

Day 3: Cairo

The day is for free disposition – Sakkara-Memphis (additional)

This day in Cairo is without any included events. It is possible to buy an excursion to Sakkara and Memphis, or you can spend the day on your own. Our tour guide is of course available with advice and guidance on how to make the most of the day.

Choose to visit Sakkara and Memphis will be in the fetch after breakfast. We drive first to Sakkara, which was once used as a royal necropolis for the ancient capital of Memphis. Sakkara contains countless royal pyramids, including Djosers world-renowned step pyramid, built more than 4600 years ago. Then we drive to Memphis, where you can experience ruins from the ancient city as well as the vast colossal statue of Ramses II. Then the trip goes back to the hotel where the rest of the day is free. Lunch will be taken at the hotel.

Day 4: Cairo – Hurghada

Flights to Hurghada on the Red Sea

In the morning we fly to Hurghada, where we check in at our 5 * hotel and relax the rest of the day on the beach, or by the pool.

In the evening we meet again and we drive to Hurghada best fish restaurant and eat dinner. Afterwards we go for a little walk in the city and sit at an Egyptian coffee-shop in the new Marina where we get a little to drink and you can try to smoke shisha (hookah).

Day 5: Hurghada

Paradise Island of Mahmya

Early in the morning we drive to the new Marina, where we embark, and sail to Paradise Island or Mahmya (a protected area and national Park) where we spend our day on the beach or in the sea, and sometimes we eat lunch.

Day 6: Hurghada – Luxor’s Eastern Shore

Bus to Luxor – Nile Cruise – Karnak Temple – Luxor Temple

In the morning we drive to Luxor and check into our Nile Cruise Ship After lunch we visit first the famous Karnak temple, a large open-air museum that was built over a period of more than a thousand years. Experience the amazing hypostylhall with the gigantic pillars and the large obelisks erected by Tuthmoses I and queen Hatshepsut.

Then we visit the Luxor temple, which was built under Amenhotep III, and was dedicated to the gods Amun, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. You can also experience an ancient church and a mosque built on top of the Temple. After the visit we drive a little horse-riding tour through the city and look at the modern Luxor with its fine houses and shops, the old quarters and their narrow streets and market.

Day 7: Luxor’s West Bank

Air Balloon Ride (additional) – Valley of the Kings – Hatshepsuts dead Temple – Memnon Kolosserne

  1. There is the opportunity to try a ride in the air balloon in the morning, on the West bank, where you can fly along with the birds, while you see the new Day rising from below!!

Early in the morning we drive to the West Bank of Luxor and visit the Valley of the Kings where the pharaohs were buried from the 18th. Dynasty and until the 20th century. Dynasty, after leaving the Memphis area. Here you can access the tombs and discover the colorful paintings and stories written with hieroglyphics on the Walls.

Then we drive to Queen Hatshepsuts mortuary Temple. She was one of the most fascinating rulers of ancient Egypt, a female pharaoh who proved her ability to reign successfully over an empire, and finally she also created an architecturally extraordinary mortuary temple for herself, with three terraces separated by colonnades, a hypostylhal and many statues, paintings and reliefs. Here you can see the reliefs of the transport of the obelisks to Karnak, as well as the birth of queen Hatshepsut. Reliefs on the south side of the Middle Terrace show the Queen expedition to the land of Punt, which was known for their incense.

Before we drive back to our ship we do stay at the 3400 year old Memnon behemoths, the huge statues of Amenhotep III, which once stood guard in front of his, now non existent, valley temple, which was once greater than the Karnak Temple. When we arrive back to our ship we eat lunch and start our sailing trip to Aswan. The rest of the day we relax and enjoy the view as we sail towards Edfu, but before we reach it we must go through the Esna lock.

Day 8: Edfu – COM Ombo

Edfu Temple – Come Ombo Temple

After breakfast on board, we run with a horse-made carriage to Egypt’s most well preserved temple, Horus temple in Edfu. there is the most intact pharaohs temple in Egypt. The Tower-like column of the temple was erected by Ptolemy IX and you can see a few beautiful statues of the falconry god Horus. Discover here the beautiful Sacrificial chamber and admire the many beautiful and elaborate reliefs on the walls. When we finish the temple we run back to our cruise ship and continue our sailing trip towards Kom Ombo.

In the afternoon we will be anchoring in Kom Ombo, and together we go in and visit Egypt’s only double temple dedicated to the crocodile God Sobek, and the falcon god Horus. The architectural masterpiece offers double, perfectly symmetrical elements with twin entrances, courtyards, pillars and shrines, which are probably the expression of a kind of double priesthood. The temple stands on a promontory at a curvature in the nile, where the sacred crocodiles in ancient times lay and baked in the sun on the banks of the nile, and you can therefore see a small museum with crocodile Mummies.

When the trip is finished, we go further towards Aswan while we enjoy our last dinner on Board.

Day 9: Aswan – Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel Temple

After breakfast we drive to Abu simbel, where we visit the World’s most impressive monument – Abu simbel, where four gigantic statues of Ramses II, 22 metres high, are carved out of the mountain, forming the entrance to an impressive Temple. The inner part of the temple was carved out of the rock, with a length of more than 60 meters, and is beautifully decorated with pillars, colorful reliefs and figurines cut out into the ROCK. Little from there is a small temple dedicated to his favorite wife, queen Nefertari. Please be aware that here you see something unique in Egyptian art – the statues of the king and queen adorning the facade are equally high.

We eat lunch in the city and end the day with Egypt’s best and most modern light and sound show with laser showing the love story between Ramses II and queen Nefertari. Then we drive back to Aswan.

Day 10: Aswan

Aswan Dam – Philae Temple – Felucca – Nubian village (additional)

Then we have reached Aswan, and after breakfast we visit the Big Aswan Dam, one of the largest feats of architecture and engineering in the 20th century. Century. From the dam there is a magnificent view of Lake Nasser, the World’s largest man-made lake. The huge reservoir that has emerged behind the dam stretches 550 km south and all the way into neighbouring Sudan. The whole area was previously home to around 40,000 people from Nubia and Sudan who were displaced in connection with the dam Building.

Then we drive to the small harbour from where we will sail out on Lake Nasser and visit the Philae temple, dedicated to the important Egyptian goddess Isis. The temple was rescued from the flood in connection with the behavior of the Aswan Dam of UNESCO, which through an 8 year long project reconstructed the Temple stone for Stone at its present Location.

After lunch we will enjoy another cruise on the nile, this time in a Felucca. There is also the opportunity to experience an extra boat trip between the stone humps and the islands of the nile, to the Nubian village where we visit Nubians and play with the Crocodiles.

Day 11: Return to Denmark

Aswan – Cairo – Copenhagen

Today we all fly to Cairo, where we say goodbye and in return, before you rise on the plane to Istanbul, and on to Scandinavia.
